Peach and Bacon Turnovers

Sweet and savory perfection! Enjoy the delightful combination of juicy peaches and crispy bacon in these flaky turnovers. The best part? You can swap the peaches for apples, pears, or figs and the cream cheese for gruyere or brie! Endless breakfast possibilities!

 

 

Ingredients

full-fat cream cheese, room temperature and not cold to the touch
4 ounces (1/2 block or 4 tablespoons)
vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon
ground cinnamon
 1/4 teaspoon
brown sugar
2 tablespoons
Phyllo Dough - thawed according to package directions
4 sheets per turnover
peaches, chopped
6-8
egg for wash
1
Lemon, juiced
1

Utensils

  • sauce pan
  • baking sheet
  • pastry brush

Instructions

Preheat oven to 400F. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.

Add the chopped peaches to a pan with the brown sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice.  Simmer on low until peaches soften.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the phyllo dough and separate into four sheets per turnover. 

Lightly egg wash the dough and spread a tbsp of cream cheese. 

Add 2 tablespoons of peaches and roll by tucking the edges and folding into squares. 

Wrap the turnover with 2 bacon slices. Option to sprinkle a bit of sugar or crushed pepper on top of the bacon. 

Repeat this process until 8 turnovers are made or ingredients are used. 

Bake in the oven for 25 minutes or until the bacon is crispy. 

Whip vanilla and cream cheese together until soft.
