Korean Short Ribs

You can easily make this delicious Korean-style BBQ dish at home whether you choose to grill, broil, or pan-fry - all are great ways to cook juicy and tender ribs. Marinating the short ribs is not necessary but key if you want really tender, flavorful meat. The sweet marinade gives them a wonderful char and makes them absolutely irresistible!

Ingredients

Asian Pear
1
White or yellow onion
1
Garlic
10 cloves
Ginger
1 inch
Soy sauce or coconut aminos
3/4 cup
Water
1/2 cup
Brown Sugar
1/3 cup
Mirin
1/4 cup
Seasame Oil
2 Tbsp
Black Pepper
1/2 tsp
Hoisin Sauce
1/4 cup

Utensils

  • Blender
  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Tongs
  • Grill

Instructions

In a blender or food processor, blend the pear, onion, garlic, ginger, and water until is becomes a smooth pulp and add to a large mixing bowl. Optionally, pour into a fine mesh strainer or cheese cloth and drain the juice into a large mixing bowl and discard pulp.

In a large mixing bowl, add soy sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, mirin, sesame oil, and black pepper. Mix well then add the ribs and marinate for 30 minutes or overnight for best results.

Grill, broil, or pan fry them over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes per side.

Sprinkle the ribs with sesame seeds, cilantro, chili sauce, or sliced scallion.
