Smash and Savor Lamb Gyros are a fresh, flavor-packed twist on a Mediterranean classic. Made with 100% pasture-raised lamb, each pita is smashed and seared to create perfectly crispy edges while staying juicy and tender inside. Finished with a bright cucumber salad and creamy tzatziki, this recipe brings bold seasoning, wholesome ingredients, and real farm flavor to your table — simple enough for a weeknight, impressive enough for guests.

Ingredients

Salt
1 tsp
Black Pepper
1 tsp
Paprika
1 tsp
Onion Powder
1 tsp
Dried Oregano
1 tsp
Garlic, minced
1 tbsp
Red Onion, finely minced

Instructions

Assembly & Cooking

  1. In a bowl, combine all lamb mixture ingredients until evenly incorporated.

  2. Divide and smash the lamb mixture directly onto one side of each pita bread, pressing into an even layer.

  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat and drizzle with olive oil.

  4. Place the pita meat-side down into the skillet. Cook for 5–7 minutes, until the lamb is fully cooked and nicely browned.

  5. Flip and cook an additional 2 minutes to allow the bread to crisp and absorb the juices and seasoning from the lamb.

  6. Remove from the pan and top with cucumber salad and tzatziki.

Serve immediately and enjoy!

Cucumber Salad

  • 3 Persian cucumbers, halved and sliced

  • Thinly sliced red onion (to taste)

  • ¼ cup small tomatoes (halved or quartered)

  • 1 avocado, cubed

  • ¼ cup olive oil

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • 2 tbsp red wine vinegar

  • 1 tsp fresh dill

  • Feta cheese (to taste)

Instructions:
Mix all ingredients together in a bowl until well combined. Adjust seasoning as needed and set aside.

Tzatziki Sauce

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt

  • Zest of 1 lemon

  • Juice of ½ lemon

  • ½ cup grated cucumber (moisture squeezed out)

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • Fresh dill (to taste)

  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
