Apple Turkey Burgers with Brie

Apple Turkey Burgers with Brie

These delicious apple turkey burgers with melted brie and caramelized shallots are savory and absolutely to die for! Not only are they topped with thinly sliced tart Granny Smith apples, but there’s also shredded apple mixed right into the patties—making them extra juicy and tender. The flavor combo is unreal! Don’t forget to whip up the easy 4-ingredient Dijon sauce for drizzling on top (and dipping fries or crispy smashed potatoes!). Want to keep it Paleo or Whole30? Just skip the brie—still just as tasty!

Ingredients

Granny Smith Apple (cored but not peeled, 1/2 grated and 1/2 thinly sliced)
1
Dijon Mustard
2 tsp
Dried Sage
1/2 tsp
Dried Thyme
1/2 tsp
Salt
1/2 tsp
Black Pepper
1/2 tsp
Shallots (large, peeled and thinly sliced)
5
Extra Virgin Olive Oil (divided)
3 Tbsp
Brie Cheese (sliced into thin wedges, omit to keep this Whole30 and Paleo friendly)
3 oz
Dijon Sauce:
Avocado Oil Mayonnaise
1/2 cup
Dijon Mustard
2 Tbsp
Coconut Aminos or Low Sodium Soy Sauce
1 tsp
Dried Thymes
1/4 tsp

Utensils

  • Whisk
  • Small Bowl
  • Pan
  • Heat Source
  • Meat Thermometer

Instructions

Whisk the sauce ingredients in a small bowl and set aside.

Heat half of the oil in a pan over medium heat.

Add the sliced shallots and cook slowly tossing frequently until they are nicely browned. This takes about 15 minutes. Once browned moved to a paper towel lined plate.

Meanwhile, combine turkey, grated apple, Dijon, Thyme, Sage, Salt and Pepper. Mix with hands to combine but do not overwork the mix. Make 4 burger patties.

Add remaining oil to pan and allow it to heat up.

Add burgers to pan and cook for 4 minutes covered.

Flip burgers and cook for 2 minutes then divide onions evenly over the 4 burgers.

Add brie slices to top of onions, cover and cook about 2-3 minutes longer or until brie is nicely melted. Burger temperature should read 165° at the thickest part.

Remove to plate and add apple slices to top of burgers.

Enjoy!
