The Wisdom Mother's Have Always Known

The Wisdom Mother's Have Always Known
My incredible wife Andrea – the heart of our family, farm, and community.

All those agricultural books on my shelf, and turns out I should've just been paying closer attention to how Andrea raises our kids.

Mother's Day has me reflecting on my incredible wife and business partner, and how motherhood and regenerative agriculture share the same profound wisdom.

Bootstrapping a startup farm while changing diapers and building chicken coops pushed our partnership to breaking points we're grateful we survived. What saved us was finding our lanes - Andrea naturally mastering animal husbandry while I focused on building our farmer cooperative.

Here's what I've realized watching Andrea mother both our children and this land: The principles that make her a great mother are exactly what make our soil thrive. Patience. Consistent care. Understanding that quick fixes usually backfire. Creating the conditions for natural growth rather than forcing outcomes.

Every mother out there practices regenerative principles, whether they realize it or not. When you prepare nourishing meals, you're building your family's resilience just like we build soil health. When you establish boundaries while allowing freedom to explore, you're mimicking the perfect balance we strive for in our pasture grazing rotations. When you create stability through challenging seasons, you're demonstrating that sustainability isn't about maintaining the status quo but about adapting to change with grace.

Want to know why regenerative agriculture works? Because it follows the wisdom mothers have always known: that life thrives when we care for the complex relationships that support it.

To all the mothers nurturing the next generation, thank you for the regenerative work you do every day. The future of our food system depends as much on your wisdom as it does on our farming practices.

Your farmer, Cody
